KITCHEN & BATH

Kitchen & Bath

Kitchens and bathrooms are some of the most popular areas of home renovation. As your designer, I understand that your dream kitchen is the most important place in the home, and that your ideal washroom should be an oasis.  They have to be as beautiful as they are functional, and most importantly they have to be designed with you in mind: Your Taste, Your Needs, and Your Budget. It is personal attention like this that sets Derek Birch Interiors apart. The following examples show that I am comfortable to work with any style.

Modernist Bathroom

This Client lives in a modernist urban townhouse that was built in the 1970’s.  The house was nice,  but the bathroom was tired and dated. Time for an upgrade. Even though the bathroom was small, there was much we could do with it; with marble everywhere and all new fixtures, I designed a new bathroom that shifted it from late century functionality, to become a sumptuous masterpiece.

Galley Kitchen

This older condo needed an upgrade. The galley kitchen was out of date. The client wanted to retain a modernist look, while updating the style and working with a small budget. This concept fulfilled the clients needs and budget fully.

Laundry Room becomes Powder Room/Laundry Closet

In this home, there was a laundry room on the main floor, but the home only had one bathroom. My design solution replaced the full sized appliances in the laundry room with stacking ones which allowed enough space to create a hidden laundry closet within an elegant powder room.

Tudor Home Spa

This client wanted to convert a former nanny suite into a home spa. The home was a lovely stone Tudor mansion and I felt that bringing the stone from the outside in, would unify the room with the rest of the home.

This is the concept illustration which includes a sauna, shower, and hot tub, all set in natural stone.

Loft Kitchen:

This is where I get to break from convention and do something fun and eccentric, because this is my own kitchen. I live in a converted factory, and I wanted to do something vintage with the kitchen. I am also an artist and art collector, so the 11 foot high walls are filled with art everywhere you look. The appliances are vintage from the 1940s, the floor is a vintage style with a diagonal checkerboard in apple green and black, and he walls are dark blue, to allow the art and the vintage appliances to pop.
